Initial ideas and brainstorm

We decided that we wanted to create a Horror trailer, as we wanted our trailer to provoke an emotional reaction from the audience by playing with the audience’s fears.  Also, we wanted the trailer to be realistic so choosing a horror genre was most appropriate, as with the acting, sound effects, different shots and fast editing pace would create an intriguing yet heart-wrenching impact which we wanted to create.

As females are seen as being victims in horrors, we decided that we too want to Inco-operate this theme into our production, so therefore we decided to have three girls; Rizwana, Tovia and Emily to star as victims. We felt that female characters will get across the vulnerability and helplessness  making the trailer appear realistic as having male characters instead of female characters  in the trailer would not get across the same meaning making the trailer appear false.
We decided to shoot our trailer in several locations. One location we decided was in a classroom/canteen as we wanted to get across to the audience of the three girls past of when they used to bully a boy called Kieron, we wanted to get across to the audience of what prompted the killer to stalk and hunt  down the three girls. Another location we decided on was  a dingy dark shed/cellar/room where the killer held his victims to torture them. We decided on this location as we wanted to create enigmas and suspense for the audience. As we wanted a contrast of location from the dark and dingy room, we decided to set the beginning of the trailer in a beautiful sunny rural area, so when the audience see the scene change dramatically to a dingy location they would immediately know that the trailer is a horror genre contradicting their first impressions. We also thought a forest would be a convenient location for a running/ chase scene as we felt that the creepiness and shadows of the trees will add to the tension of the trailer.
